Viewers of 1000-lb Sisters have yet to tire of the show, as many are sharing that they feel the Slaton sisters are a breath of fresh air.

While 1000-lb Sisters may not be everyone’s cup of tea, those who consider themselves loyal viewers are starting to feel like it may be one of TLC’s best shows. Tammy and Amy Slaton opened their life up to the world when they first started their YouTube channel. Now, four seasons in, fans feel like they know both of the Kentucky natives pretty well.

1000-lb Sisters’ Amy Slaton and Tammy first shared their life in 2020 when the famed show first premiered. Both sisters were extraordinarily open and vulnerable about their need to lose weight since they tipped the scales at 1,000 pounds together. Growing up, they were often left to fend for themselves while their mother worked multiple jobs. This led them to form bad habits like ordering fast food and eating processed food. Amy was the first to qualify for the life-saving gastric bypass surgery, with Tammy finally having her procedure done this past summer.

Why Fans Love Watching 1000-Lb Sisters

Viewers of 1000-lb Sisters recently took to Reddit to share their love of both Slaton sisters. One user u/known-enemy shared that they felt the Slatons were “> Kardashians.” While the thread wasn’t meant to compare the two shows directly against one another, the fan couldn’t help but revel at how Tammy and Amy were a “breath of fresh air” compared to many of the unrelatable reality TV stars out there. The user explained that as a young teen, it was enjoyable to watch the lifestyles of the rich and famous, but now as an adult, these types of shows like The Kardashians seem out of touch.

1000-Lb Sisters Fans Support Amy & Tammy Slaton

Most thread participants agreed that Amy and Tammy were easy to empathize with since they were juggling their own mental health while trying to make ends meet. Another fan shared that they felt the fakeness of The Kardashians was “old and done,” noting people want to root for the underdog. Ironically, the only similarity between the two shows is that it is a family affair, with fans calling the Slatons the “Kentucky Kardashians.”

She has also married Caleb Willingham and was discharged from the Ohio rehab center, where she stayed for the last year.
