90 Day Fiancé star Alina Kasha speaks out against the assumption that non-disabled people will have to be caregivers to their disabled partners.
New 90 Day Fiancé star Alina Kasha recently cleared up a misconception about a non-disabled person dating a person with disabilities. This comes after Caleb Greenwood was slammed by many viewers for mistreating Alina. After being friends for 13 years, the couple finally met in Turkey. However, their first meeting wasn’t as romantic as many fans expected. Caleb told Alina that she looked shorter than he imagined, and he then seemed annoyed about taking care of her needs, especially her wheelchair.
The 28-year-old Arizona man didn’t look excited to meet his online girlfriend after so many years. In fact, he was overwhelmed to learn that it is challenging to date a little person. When Alina clearly needed some affection or reassurance from her American boyfriend, he told her that he just wanted to sleep. Caleb’s action has made fans believe that he will bail on Alina. After watching the latest episode of 90 Day Fiancé: Before the 90 Days, some fans also think that if a non-disabled person dates a little person, they will have to become their full-time caregiver.
The 90 Day Fiancé celeb Alina took to Instagram to clarify that it isn’t the case. She wrote, “Yes, the help might be needed, but there’s always a choice.” She shared that people can hire professional help if they can pay for it and are too busy to be there for their partners all the time. Alina added, “There are programs (in Russia not so much though) that help to pay for it or it can even be free. And honey, who’s stopping you from getting rich and successful to afford all the services?!” Alina, who has a condition called diastrophic dysplasia, explained that disabled people design their homes in a way that everything is easily accessible to them, and they don’t need much help from others.
Since she is renting her apartment in Russia, she hasn’t put much effort into modifying it to make it handicap-accessible. She added, “And last but not least… we all help each other. Think about how many times you asked someone to do something. Human beings can’t really survive just solo.” Many 90 Day Fiancé fans appreciated Alina for sharing her thoughts. A fan said, “Exactly the person we date can choose to help us or not.” Another fan chimed in, “Well written. You are an independent woman with a great roommate.”
Alina chose to feature on the show to raise awareness about disabled people. She is now utilizing her newfound fame and clarifying many fans’ assumptions about dating a little person. Even though he is proud of Alina, fans can’t overlook how disappointed he appeared after meeting his girlfriend for the first time.
