1000-lb Sisters has Amy Slaton, who has taken on the huge task of losing hundreds of pounds. She began her journey at just over 400 pounds, and now she has goals of reaching 150. She showed her struggles with weight loss to begin with but eventually qualified for gastric bypass surgery. She managed to lose over one hundred pounds and is now at around 280 pounds.

Since the surgery, she has had some setbacks but nothing to make her gain her weight back. She became pregnant with her son, Gage Halterman, and found herself at a plateau. But being a mom with loose skin makes it difficult to take her son places. She informs Michael Halterman that it might just be time to get rid of her excess skin. The first step is getting an approval.

1000-lb Sisters’ Amy Slaton wants to move ahead with one of the next steps in her weight loss journey. She says that she is tired of the loose skin that she has and wants to get it removed. She goes to see Dr. Paul Zieg, who is a plastic surgeon. Now she hopes that he will be able to remove her excess skin. He asks to see Amy’s problem area’s including her arms, stomach, and legs.

Amy explains that under her stomach, she gets rashes, and it’s worse since she has lost weight. Dr. Zieg says that is a very common problem to have. He examines Amy and says that she has at least five pounds of fat hanging off her arms. It’s common for people who have had weight loss surgery to reach out to him for help with this. But will he take Amy on as a patient?

Amy Slaton from 1000-lb Sisters is talking with Dr. Paul Zieg to see if she is a good candidate for skin removal surgery. Dr. Zieg then tells Amy that, unfortunately, he doesn’t think that she is a great candidate. He thinks that Amy should lose more weight before having the surgery. She has already lost over 140 pounds, according to the doctor, and he understands that many hit a wall when losing weight and want to make a change.
