Welcome To Plathville viewers have regularly pitied Ethan Plath. The Plath’s oldest son often found himself in the middle of some terrible fights.

While Ethan Plath of Welcome to Plathville was often seen as a loveable pushover, fans couldn’t help but pity him during certain situations. The eldest son found it hard to balance his marriage demands and his hatred for his mother and father, Kim and Barry Plath. Overall, viewers could tell that he was being put through the wringer and often empathized with his plight.

In the beginning, it seemed like Ethan had a pretty simple life. When Welcome to Plathville fans first met Ethan, he was living in a cute home with his wife, Olivia Plath. Ethan also still saw his parents and younger siblings regularly. As Welcome To Plathville fans are aware, Kim and Barry raised their nine children under strict Christian and conservative values. As season 1 went on, Ethan tried soda, alcohol, and TV with the support of his wife – all of which were things frowned upon by Kim and Barry. By the time season 2 aired, Ethan had found himself in quite the predicament. Despite Olivia’s desire to be with Ethan, she couldn’t figure out how to reconcile her differences with Kim and Barry.

There have been multiple times that Ethan was the object of pity. Not only was he so overcome with fear at times that he could hardly function, but the reality star also couldn’t hold a decent conversation to save his life. It was evident to fans that Ethan was incredibly withdrawn, primarily due to his up rasing. One moment that stands out in fans’ minds was when he refused to leave his small town of Cairo, GA. Fans were sad to learn Ethan wanted to stay in the only place he ever knew, unwilling to explore the world.

Ethan’s depression also caused viewers to sympathize with him because it caused Ethan to shut out other people around him. Ethan refused to get help or talk to a therapist more than once, which was also upsetting since he was obviously hurting. Ethan’s mother issues are also a problem that needs to be addressed. Choosing to have no relationship with your parents is huge, and fans didn’t envy him at all for coming to that conclusion. In fact, many viewers flat-out pitied Ethan and noted that he seemed deflated the entire season.

When Olivia moved out, he stopped running away and really tried to turn things around. Even though Welcome to Plathville fans pitied him for so long, they now feel like he truly took time to consider what he wants from his life, realizing that he wanted to stay in Cairo since it was comfortable. Toward the end of the season, Ethan regained his old smile and jovial attitude. Hopefully, this is an upward trend for the reality star.
